What is Synthetic Biology?
Synthetic Biology Definition: The use of quantitative engineering tools (e.g. computational or analytical modeling, logic circuits, AI, DNA printing) to modify genetic material and its expression, create new functions through manipulation of the intracellular or viral environment, combine with new or repurposed canonical parts from nature, and/or produce arrays based on biomolecules for a wide range of purposes including basic and applied science.
Mission of ISSB
The Israeli Society for Synthetic Biology, which brings together a growing community of researchers, students, and industry professionals in the State of Israel who are engaged in the field and belong to academic institutions from a wide range of fields including engineering sciences, computer science, physics, chemistry, biology, and medicine. The ISSB is managed by an elected Executive Board
National Activities
The core members of the Israeli Society for Synthetic Biology work closely with the Academic event of iGEM Israel
In the iGEM project, students compete internationally in an inspiring research project focused on Synthetic Biology.
